Technical Foundations for AI Safety in APAC

Shiba AI is pleased to share that several members of our research team have successfully completed the Technical Alignment Research Accelerator Program(TARA) . TARA is a 14-week part-time program that builds technical AI safety skills for talent across the Asia-Pacific region. The rigorous curriculum bridges theoretical safety disciplines, modern system auditing paradigms, and empirical threat modeling to equip engineers with the structural foundations required to mitigate catastrophic global risks from frontier computing systems. As an organization deeply invested in advancing secure machine learning architectures and robust defensive alignment, this cohort’s graduation marks a natural milestone in expanding technical safety capabilities within the Asia-Pacific region.

Core Research & Capstone Execution

Over the final weeks of the accelerator, our members shifted away from theoretical concepts to independently scope, design, and execute highly technical capstone projects. These papers focused heavily on deep-dive empirical testing across three core tracking vectors:

  • Evaluation Robustness: Developing rigorous diagnostic benchmarks and validation tools to audit frontier models under extreme distribution shifts.
  • Agentic Safety: Auditing structural vulnerabilities, context window drift, and unintended goal-directed behaviors in long-horizon autonomous agents.
  • Adversarial Vulnerabilities: Stress-testing modern frontier LLM systems against novel automated exploit pipelines and optimization-based jailbreaks.

This specialized training directly exemplifies the standard of empirical and theoretical work we hold ourselves to at Shiba AI, where our overarching research directive centers on building a mathematically grounded understanding of how advanced AI systems behave, fail, and can be structurally stabilized.
